Tefal Quick Cup http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/tefal-quick-cup/ http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/tefal-quick-cup/#comments Sat, 08 Dec 2007 22:14:41 +0000 admin http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/tefal-quick-cup/ The Tefal Quick Cup literally makes a hot drink (near boiling point) within seconds, effectively making instant tea a possibility. It heats up and spouts 220 milliliters. The only disadvantages that consumers have noted is that the device vibrates in use, just like any other kettle.

  • Energy saving: Around £30 a year
  • One off cost: Less than £50
  • Benefit: Nearly instant cups of tea!

Zune Laser Engraving http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/zune-laser-engraving/ http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/zune-laser-engraving/#comments Thu, 29 Nov 2007 21:19:25 +0000 admin http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/zune-laser-engraving/ Wait... Do you hear to sound of a thousand hoofs? Yes, that is Apple's lawyers on their high horses come to battle Microsoft.

Engraved Zune

Without a doubt this will be the result, as the Microsoft Zune (classic version) is now being offered with laser engraving - similar to another popular music player in the market *cough* the iPod.

Oh, did I mention it is free, just like the iPod... never mind.  If you are not too picky, why not get a Zune without the laser engraving?

If so, watch the above introductory video about Google mobile maps and its new feature 'My Location'. You can download Google Mobile maps directly from Google. Note that the My Locations also supports GPS.

Get an unlocked iPhone from Orange http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/get-an-unlocked-iphone-from-orange/ http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/get-an-unlocked-iphone-from-orange/#comments Wed, 28 Nov 2007 13:08:38 +0000 admin http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/get-an-unlocked-iphone-from-orange/ France Telecom have recently announced that the iPhone will be going on sale soon through out France, providing it is purchased with an Orange contract. Unusually though, the iPhone will be sold contract free for 649 Euros or 549 Euros with an Orange pay-monthly plan.

The most confusing part of this however, is that Orange is also selling an unlocked iPhone for any specific network you wish. This costs quite a bit however, at 749 Euros in total, which is 649 Euros for the iPhone itself and 100 Euros for the unlocking.

Buy an unlocked iPhone?

Do you want an unlocked iPhone right now that you can use on any network? Don't want to take a trip to France just for that? If so, check out these deals.

HP iPAQ 100 Series http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/hp-ipaq-100-series/ http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/hp-ipaq-100-series/#comments Mon, 19 Nov 2007 00:26:16 +0000 admin http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/hp-ipaq-100-series/ In August 2007, HP announced new members of the iPAQ family: 100, 200, 300, 600 and 900 series. The 100 and 200 series are regular PDAs with Windows Mobile 6 Classic, the second one being launched towards the business customer. The 100 series however, is the one we are interested in today.

This video shows a recent unboxing of the iPAQ 100 (a public relations box set).

The 100 series isn't exactly gripping in terms of its new feature set. However it is a true advancement of the existing iPAQ brand. It seems HP are moving slowing and steadily rather than rushing in with new elements and changes that consumers will most likely dislike, hopefully not making the same mistake as other big name PDA manufacturers.

Other iPAQs

Unfortunately, the newest iPAQ 100, with Windows Mobile 6 is not yet available, but the prior models - bizarrely with higher numbers - are still available from HP. They are certainly the most advanced PDAs currently available.

Microsoft Zune 8 http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/microsoft-zune-8/ http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/microsoft-zune-8/#comments Sat, 17 Nov 2007 18:15:32 +0000 admin http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/microsoft-zune-8/ Zune 8 and large Zune

The new Microsoft Zune 8 stores your music, video and every other type of media you can think of on flash memory, a whole - shock and horror - 8 Gigabytes of storage space is included. It has a 1.8 inch colour liquid crystal display and comes in pink, green, black and red designs. Also it weights in at a lightweight 47 g. Pretty much the same, as the Zune 4, except for the obvious abscene of the extra 4GB precent in the Zune 8.

The Zune comes with earphones, USB data cable, and carrying bag. Also sold seperately are many other accessories, some, but not all of which are manufactured by Microsoft.

  • Charging devices (car adapter, AC wall-socket adapters, external battery).
  • I/O adapters (A/V composite, FM transmitters, headphones, USB data cable).
  • Docks (charging, multimedia large speaker, vertical hands-free assist).
  • Protection (glass screen protection, hardened/cushioning material case protection).
  • Carrying cases (standard issue, armband type, and belt clip).
  • Replacement parts and upgrades (battery, hard drive, LCD, etc.).

A More Flashy Guitar Hero http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/a-more-flashy-guitar-hero/ http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/a-more-flashy-guitar-hero/#comments Sat, 17 Nov 2007 16:16:22 +0000 admin http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/a-more-flashy-guitar-hero/ Guitar Hero is great, but sometimes the action is not enough for some people. For some people, you need all three - lights, camera and action!

With custom molded semi-transparent plastic buttons, some cheap light emitting diodes and incredible patience, these guys have modded their guitar into a flashing masterpiece. Check out the video above.

Get The Game

Guitar Hero is one of those series that has been going for years. If you are in to gaming in any sense, you already know about it. However, if you're a new gamer, or a hermit to the video game console world, this game is a must.

Windows Vista getting better? http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/windows-vista-getting-better/ http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/windows-vista-getting-better/#comments Fri, 16 Nov 2007 21:07:57 +0000 admin http://awesome-gadgets.co.uk/windows-vista-getting-better/ Vista Ultimate Cover

Windows Vista had much criticism since its release for many reasons, including its lack of the originally planned feature set and various annoyances such as User Access Control (UAC) and hardware incompatibilities.

Service Pack 1

To fix some of these problems, including some of the major slowdowns during operations such as file transfer, Microsoft will be releasing Windows Vista Service Pack 1 within a few months. The release candidate is now available for Microsoft testers.

A whitepaper published by Microsoft near the end of August 2007 outlined the scope and intent of the service pack, identifying three major areas of improvement: reliability and performance, administration experience, and support for newer hardware and standards.

One area of particular note is performance. Areas of improvement include file copy operations, hibernation, logging off on domain-joined machines, Javascript parsing in Internet Explorer, network file share browsing, Windows Explorer ZIP file handling and Windows Disk Defragmenter. The ability to choose individual drives to defragment is being reintroduced as well.

So, will Vista be going the dreaded way of Windows ME or will it succeed as Microsoft hope?
